DA 2018

dutch apple 2The Dutch Apple II was built at Scarano Boat Building Inc, in 1986. The boat is derived from popular Hudson River Dayliners of an earlier era.

The dayliners plied the waters of the Hudson River ferrying passengers to and from ports along the way between Albany and New York City.

In designing the boat and whenever practical, Scarano utilized wood species that are both indigenous to the region and traditional for building boats. The result is a blend of classic styling and warm elegance.

Castleton Sightseeing

This cruise today included a wonderful historical narration by 'Henry Hudson' about the evolution of the industries along the river and the changes that occurred over time. I have taken similar cruises on the Dutch Apple and there is always something new to learn, something new to see. Thank you for the addition of 'Henry Hudson' to our cruise!

An Enjoyable Way to Spend an Afternoon

We spent a very nice 1.5 hours enjoying the sightseeing cruise. This is a three-decked boat, and we chose one of the tables on the top deck, which is open, but mostly covered, so we got to enjoy the late spring day, while also enjoying the shade. We are planning on coming back in the fall to enjoy the autumn colors.

Fall Foliage Cruise

The crew of the Dutch Apple could not be nicer. We lucked out and had spectacular fall weather. We went just as the leaves were beginning to show their fall colors. We also were visited by an American Bald Eagle who flew over our ship a few times. I had never seen one this close; it was majestic and beautiful. Highly recommend for a couple or family!

Entertaining, Historical, Educational

The classic tour up and down the Hudson River by Dutch Apple Cruises is full of surprises. The sights include wonderful riverside homes, industrial wonders, container ships and wildlife including eagles. Commentary is good and easy to hear on all three decks and there is seating both inside and out. The tour is well-priced and very enjoyable.I highly recommend taking this tour.

Enjoyable Cruise

This cruise was excellent to see the scenery along the Hudson River and also visit with our grand kids. The crew and commentary were excellent. There are drinks and light snacks for a fee available.

A Really Fun Time

We had my sister’s birthday with friends & family yesterday and I can’t say enough about how nice the cruise was. The staff did an incredible job at coordinating it and making it fun for everybody. I highly recommend the boxed lunch from Anton’s, which Dutch Apple Cruise coordinated for us. I am very happy that we went with the Dutch Apple Cruise with Captain Ron and the entire crew.

On the Hudson
South of Albany

We have been wanting to cruise the Hudson for a while and were not disappointed. Our guide provided a running commentary not only on historic tidbits but pointed out everything from ocean going ships to eagles. It was a great way to learn more about the area, from the first settlers to today. Highly recommended.

Interesting Tour
of Upper Hudson

River traffic was fascinating (barges, freighters and dozens of tugboats)! Our lady tour guide was really knowledgeable and was great at pointing out eagles (saw four of them!). Highly recommend!

Reunions, Customer Appreciations, Just a Ride on the River

Gosh, I've made this trip over 15 times and love the Hudson River. We have held reunions, celebrations, customer events and just taken nice rides on the river with or without dinner. Try it you will like it.

I had my wedding on the Dutch Apple Cruise, and it was perfect! The staff was so helpful and made our day wonderful. I have a disabled father, and they accommodated him in so many ways, and went way beyond what they had to. I would recommend this boat for a party or a wedding, and my husband and I are going on a tour today down the river just for fun!

Love the Water

Having toured the town, spotted trains and been rerouted due to construction, we arrived for the cruise without eating lunch. A glass of cold white wine and two dogs later, I was a happy traveler. The mix of heavy industry and lovely homes as well as a Coast Guard ship checking buoys kept our interest. Well worth the time and money.

Great Experience!

The folks at the Dutch Apple bend over backwards to be sure your experience is a great one, and although they can't control the weather, even with rain and wind, you love it. It is a handsome river, and each time we have seen eagles and other wildlife. Having a bar and snacks is good, and the boat is spotless clean.

Beautiful Way to Spend an Afternoon

This is a great way to spend a sunny afternoon, cruising on the Hudson River. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and entertaining, and the entire staff was pleasant and accommodating. I wouldn't hesitate to go back for another visit.

Great Sunset Cruise

We were a large group (60+) of college seniors, their friends and families. We wanted to do something together one last time, after being together for 4 years, and the Dutch Apple Sunset Cruise was the perfect outing! We danced, sang, ate, drank and snapped photos on a beautiful float on the Hudson. The staff was great and took all of our rowdiness in stride!!
